PTC Wizard - Parent Teacher Conferences

Instructions for all teachers:
Conferences are  February 11, 12, 13 and 14th from 7:00-7:50 am and 2:40-7:00 pm.   All teachers are currently scheduled as AVAILABLE for all of those times.  It is up to each teacher to log in and block out any times that
they are unavailable before and after school.  By default, the school day is blocked off as UNAVAILABLE.
Please block off your available times by Friday January 25th.

You will find a list of room assignments when you click on this link: PTC Room Assignments
Teams are currently scheduled together in the same room.  Some other teachers have been scheduled together in rooms because of the lack of rooms for everyone.  If you would rather be alone, I may be able to work something out.
Please let me know.

The link for teachers is https://sau25bhs.ptcwizard.com/admin  - this can also be accessed from home.
Please be sure you have blocked off times you are UNAVAILABLE so those slots will not look open for parent
signups.

2) Enter username, it is your email address (i.e. lunnk@sau25.net)
*For team logins, I will send a separate email with your login information
3) Enter password, same as your network address (see me if any problems)

8) The parents will see the date & times you are available and will sign up accordingly.
9) Once parents have signed up, their names will appear on your conference days, and there is an option to print
    on the top right
"Click here to print this schedule"

NOTE:
The parent portal link will be available for signups on Monday, January 28, 2013: https://sau25bhs.ptcwizard.com/authenticate/?redirect=user
It is important that you have blocked off your availability before the portal is opened for parent signups,

Q1 Grade Change Reports

Those of you needing to make a change to a grade, please use this link for instructions on how to
print a grade change report:  http://linkyy.com/GradeChgRept

For those that gave Incompletes, you have 2 weeks from when grades closed to get these changed
in your grade book. Once changed print a grade change report and deliver to Lisa Serard in the Counseling department.

For those Incompletes that are NOT related to concussions or other medical reasons, these
Incompletes turn into Fs after the two week timeframe.

Google Collections & Google Drive Folders Work same

Once your Google Docs has converted over to Google Drive, the Collections are now referred to as Folders.  Some users will choose to stick with the old view, but if you choose to migrate over to the newer look & feel your collections will now say Folders.

The Collections and Folders work the same with one exception.  Once you move a file from your Documents Home into a folder (collection), it now removes it from your HOME area.

Here are some frequently asked questions about sharing collections, permissions, etc.  Hope this is helpful.  If you need assistance, stop by Room 222 or email your questions to me.
Thanks ~ Kerri

When I add items to a shared collection, do the docs inherit the permissions of the collection?
Yes. When you share a collection, all docs in that collection are shared with the person you specify. If you later add new docs to the collection, they also inherit the permissions. For example, Joelle creates a collection and shares it with someone. When she later adds a doc to that shared collection, the doc now has the same permissions as the shared collection.

If I remove a collaborator from a shared collection, will that collaborator be removed from all docs within that collection?
Yes, unless that person was added to the documents explicitly or via some other collection. For example, Joelle invites Estela to a shared collection but later decides she wants to remove Estela from the shared collection. She removes her access to the collection and Estela therefore won't see the collection or any of the docs within that collection in her Documents List.

Can you change permissions for individual docs within a collection?
Yes, you can add collaborators to a collection and then either change their access or remove them from individual docs within that collection. Simply click the Share menu on a doc to see exactly who has access to the doc and change access permissions.
For example, Estela creates a collection, adds docs to it, and shares the collection with Joelle. However, she doesn't want Joelle to have access to one specific doc within that collection. So she clicks the Share menu from the doc, selects Sharing settings and clicks the X next to Joelle's name to remove her permissions. After that, Joelle doens't see this doc within the shared collection.

If I move the doc to another collection, do the permissions from the previous shared collection carry over?
No. The collection defines the sharing context. For example, if Estela shares a collection with Joelle and then moves a doc from that collection to a different collection that she hasn't shared with Joelle, Joelle doesn't have access to this doc. The doc now has the permissions of the new collection.
However, if you include the same item in multiple collections, the sharing settings are aggregate. In other words, if I've shared a collection with Joelle, and a different collection with Estela, and then place the same document in both collections, that item will now be shared with both Joelle and Estela.

What's the difference between giving someone edit rights or view rights?
Someone with edit rights can add documents to the collection. They can also remove items from the collection. Users with view rights can only access the documents already included in the collection. Remember, the sharing settings also transfer to the items in the collection.

Google Bookmark Tip for Long Documents

Use Bookmarks to navigate long documents
Within word processing documents, you can define bookmarks and then create links elsewhere that jump straight to that bookmark. This can be useful when you’re creating table-of-contents pages, for example.

BookMark Screenshot
To insert a bookmark, choose Insert and then Bookmark. To create a link to a bookmark, highlight the word or phrase that you want people to click in order to jump to the bookmark, and then press command-K. Then select the Bookmark radio button in the resulting dialog box, and select the bookmark that you created earlier.

Grade Book Calculations for Y5 & Q1

It is very important during Quarter1 to make sure your assignments are calculating into Q1 & Y5 grades in your grade book.  If your Q1 and Y5 do not match, it is usually an indication that your Grade Setup may have a discrepancy.  Please stop by Room 222 or contact me via email (lunnk@sau25.net) so I can look at your grade book setup for you.  Do not hesitate to call or stop by! Happy Grading!

PTC login issues

If anyone is having a problem logging into the PTC Wizard to block off their times for Parent Teacher Conferences, please feel free to email me and I will reset your password.  Stop by Room 222 if you need additional assistance.

Intersession feedback very positive

Some great things being said about many of the intersession but one in particular is the Regional Community service....  This group made quite an impact!  Great job Bulldogs!!!

Click here to read all about their three day experience and the impact they had.

Quote from Bedford Greenhouse Project Blog:

"We were saddened to see our Day 1 crew drive off, thinking we'd never get another great group of students like them.  Once again, we were proven WRONG.  Day 2 Bedford High Students proved equally enthusiastic, finishing up work done on Day 1 and pressing on with new and sometimes even more arduous tasks.  What joy!"
